Who
I'm Eric Ward. I write the dictionaries, the servers and the apps here myself. Nova Lingvo is the name the work ships under; it isn't a company with staff behind it.
Email is the best way to reach me: eric@novalingvo.app.
What I'm building
-
IDK Korean In development
An offline Korean–English dictionary with spaced-repetition study and a pronunciation practice mode. Built on lexical data from the National Institute of Korean Language, Wiktionary and Unihan.
-
IDK Italian In development
The same dictionary and study engine for Italian–English, with reading tools for imported texts and subtitles.
Neither app is on the App Store or Google Play yet. When they are, the links will be on the IDK apps page.
Your data
The dictionary works offline and signed out, so you can use it without giving me anything. If you do make an account, deleting it is a button in the app and it is permanent — see deleting your data for exactly what goes, and the privacy policy for what is stored and where. Everything users create is kept in the EU.
Licensing
The dictionary data comes from open lexical sources, several of which carry ShareAlike terms. The licensing and attribution page lists every source and its licence.
